You can oversee the bloody dismemberment of a Washington Post journalist with a bone saw, and the president of the United States will smile, shake your hand and threaten to pull the license of a news outlet whose reporter asks you a question about it.

Trump defends Saudi crown prince over Khashoggi killing
The de facto Saudi ruler was branded a pariah in 2018 after the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Now, U.S.-Saudi relations are approaching a high point.

I don’t want to hear about norms, I don’t want to hear about looking forward not back, I don’t want to hear about “bipartisanship”

I want the filibuster gone, the court packed, new states, and a top to bottom cleaning of the federal government that ends with a lot of people in jail

I'm disappointed but not shocked to see Blue Prince miss the cut, given that it's English only and many of the judges are outside of the US/UK.

Not much suspense here - Clair Obscur is the fan favorite and has the best narrative (ex-Ubisoft devs go indie), even if there are more interesting games
The Game Awards GOTY nominees leaked:

-Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
-Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
-Donkey Kong Bananza
-Hades II
-Hollow Knight: Silksong
-Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Can't overstate how fucked up it is that unraveling what is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of humanity is now a motivating issue of one of the two dominant parties in the U.S.
FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.

Gonna talk in entomology class today about how Jewish scientists forced to work in Nazi concentration camps secretly sent fake vaccines to the eastern front and managed to kill 4,000 Nazis with typhus.
Vaccine subterfuge: How vaccine-makers fooled the Nazis from inside a concentration camp lab
Confined first at Auschwitz then Buchenwald, a Jewish microbiologist conspired with a ragtag team of scientists and rebels to send dud typhus vaccines to the German soldiers on the eastern front.

The Trump administration will stop annual reports on hunger in America—right after Republicans made massive cuts to food assistance programs.

This is yet another example of Trump hiding numbers he doesn’t like. Meanwhile, children and families will go hungry.

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

As part of a growing pattern of political retribution, Donald Trump's FBI has raided the home of a prominent administration critic. In this instance it happens to be John Bolton. The pretense is largely irrelevant.

For today’s bonus “One First,” I wrote about Abraham Lincoln’s commitment to holding the Election of 1864—even when he thought he’d probably lose and his successor would sue for peace, thus ending the war (and, likely, the Union).

Respecting and preserving the will of the people was more important:
Bonus 173: The Election of 1864
At the lowest moment of his presidency (if not the Civil War), Abraham Lincoln was committed to protecting the people's right to vote him out in favor of a negotiated end to the war—and the Union.

Armed Trump administration agents wearing masks just showed up outside of Gavin Newsom’s press conference.
