worth applying to politics as well. when you're criticizing an action people take "taking the better action next time" is only one of the alternatives people will consider, and worth remembering that "not bothering at all" is another.
I think about this a lot.

Theory: Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice is grumpy because he was an analytic philosopher born several generations too early.

3. Solar will not solve every problem. But the biggest problem is that our civilisation relies on digging up fossil carbon and burning it, which is destabilising the climate, which multiplies a lot of very unpleasant threats. Solar is part of stopping us needing to do that.

I hope this comes to Canada. It would be cool to catch up with F1 , haven't followed it in like 10 years.
Apple TV to air F1 races in the US for the next 5 years. This is interesting: “Select races and all practice sessions will also be available for free in the Apple TV app.” [apple.com]
Apple is the exclusive new broadcast partner for Formula 1® in the U.S.
Apple and Formula 1 announced a five-year partnership that will bring all F1 races exclusively to Apple TV in the United States beginning next year.

The new Automerge website is live!!

The biggest (smallest) surprise? How fun it was to build the demo!

Automerge is so robust, it withstood all our weird ideas — like using physics-driven particles to literally push changes between docs — and it just worked. Perfectly. Every time.

To commemorate the latest attempt to change Alberta license plates, let's look back at recent efforts to rebrand prairie political culture.

Spoiler alert: All 3 of these premiers enjoyed much higher popularity ratings than does Danielle Smith. And all 3 failed. #ableg

Wtf no 🤮
Here are the new license plate designs. Alberta is ditching the Wild Rose Country slogan for Strong and Free. Albertans can vote on which design they like the best and that's the one that will be used.

This is what I'm seeing in technical coaching circles for software development. Small scripts and tools, and only use llms where they are useful for specific tasks. Almost a deterministic first approach.
One day the industry will recognize the drawbacks of AI agents and nondeterministic automation, and rediscover the UNIX philosophy of chaining together small purpose built tools in a low cost and predictable way, otherwise known as shell scripts.

Our kids our old enough not to qualify for the $30 thing, but maybe we just donate $30 a day anyway to help them with ads to counter the government's ads. Or is someone doing something to get donations directly to teachers since they aren't getting strike pay?
