Forget the Trump stuff, the idea that the BBC has a pro-trans bias is laughable.

The resignation of Tim Davie as BBC Director-General is the next stage in the corporation's collapse into cowardice.

Hooked on ‘Down Cemetery Road’. It’s like a really high-budget ITV crime drama, in the best way.

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.

So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

One reason to tax and regulate billionaires more is to keep their power and influence in check.

Governments ignoring this point will sorely regret it.

Listening to some mid-teens school kids doing their homework in a coffee shop.

Kid 1: Ask ChatGPT
Everyone else in unison: Noooooo!
Kid 1: That's what my mum tells me to do
Kid 2: Your mum is wrong

The kids are alright.

'Burning Bridges' by Status Quo, from the Morissions in Girlington, Bradford, in January 1989. I wanted to buy a single and that one seemed quite catchy when it was on Top of the Pops.

I considered buying 'Fine Time' by New Order instead. It had a great cover but I had no idea what it was.
No lying or making yourself out to be a cool kid.
Post the first record you bought.
If you can remember the shop or circumstances add that too. Local color appreciated.

Fully agree with this from @ivancouronne.bsky.social. If you want a report to recieve media coverage, releasing it during or in the run-up to a major event is one of those ideas that seems good but is actually terrible!

This fever dream about the UK (and Ireland!) is so easily proved false that it’s almost laughable. But so many people seem to believe it now that it’s actually quite dangerous.
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

Watching Girlbands Forever and what strikes me is how young they look.

Most of these late 90s girl bands looked slightly older than me, which is a big difference when you’re a 17 year-old kid.

But they look like babies in the old footage now, which I think means I’m old.

"Farage told us the flag-raisers were just ordinary folk sticking it to the system. A few months worth of local journalism later, that now looks like a shaky claim."

A great read from @manchestermill.bsky.social about the kinds of people who put up flags around the UK.
