Our first issue is focused on US folk horror in the 1970s. Below you will find a list of topics we'd love to see tackled, but feel free to pitch your own if you have ideas. For topics related to marginalized cultures, we will only consider Own Voices.
Topics Wishlist: • Regional media and/or outsider art • Black cinema and/ or Blackspoitation • Landscape and geography • Environmentalism and/or the back-to-the-land movement • Hicksploitation and/ or portrayals of rural areas • Portrayals of non-Christian beliefs and traditions (e.g., New Orleans Voodoo, etc.) • Esotericism and the occult (including Satanism) • Portrayals of Native American characters and/ or tribal practices • Cults and communes (e.g., Jonestown, Heaven's Gate, Children of God) and the aftermath of the Manson Family murders • The end of the '60s and the reconstruction of the American psyche (including effects of the Vietnam War) • Witchsploitation and the feminist movement
