No expectation of drinking is an important point I haven’t seen anyone else bring up about women’s sports - even if queer bars were plentiful, it can still be awkward to go to a bar on your own when you don’t drink. A game is a reason to go out without any other expectations.
edition.cnn.com/2025/11/25/s... A story that I’ve been working on for the past few months, about why women’s football is so important to queer people, is published! I really loved writing this and it’s a story that’s very close to my heart. I would love it if you kind folks would give it a read 🤍

Also, if you live anywhere in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania OR work in the city of Philadelphia (since so many live on the NJ side of the Delaware River), you can get a card for the Free Library of Philadelphia! They have a massive selection of ebooks and various online databases and services.
Here is a list (updated Oct 2025) of libraries who offer cards to non-residents.

I checked my library (non-resident cards available) and 2 of Krista's books are available as an ebook.

And if the library doesn't have the book you want, you can request they acquire it!

I know we have far more international players than spots, but I was really hoping we could keep her :-(

How much money do other teams want for their spots? We have to be able to keep Rose & Gift together.
On media day, I asked Kysha what it was like coming into this tight Spirit squad:

“I called my mom and I was like ‘damn, why didn’t you tell me I have a lot of sisters in Washington?’”

Thanks to all the @bayfcsupporters.bsky.social recommendations for the trip.

Now I’m going to eat my feelings in cannoli from the pizza-by-the-slice place near the hotel, because of course I am.

How does Gift Monday describe her on-field relationship with Rose Kouassi? In a word, “divine.”

24 (will be 25 after this weekend’s final in San José)

I’m partial to Audi Field in DC, obviously, the Maryland SoccerPlex is where I met @ash12.bsky.social, Subaru Park in Chester has the best views, and 2019’s quarterfinal France/USA in Parc des princes in Paris was unbelievable.

How many soccer stadiums have you been to and whats your favorite one?

Ah, what happened when we touched up the kitchen ceiling after the cabinet refinish. Learned each face on the ceiling has a different shade of grey-to-tan.
when you are painting a room and you get the wrong grey-tan for matching the difference between the 2 shades is called the problematic beige gap

I was looking for a good Leicy Santos GIF, found this one, and that’s an alternate Spirit timeline right there.

As I wrote in my column over on The Cutback last Monday, Kouassi and Monday are THE double-act in the NWSL this year.

To circle back . . .

These groups spent probably millions of dollars on years of pamphlets & signs & ads & commercials, and lost. Their candidates got 3-3.1k votes each (we vote for 4 candidates, 8 were on the ballot) while the others got 4.1-4.3k each.

The ENTIRE school system has ~3k students.
It’s a fake issue the same way that national conservative PACs have been waging a massive “misinformation” campaign of lies for YEARS in our township, with the silent goal of taking over the school board the same way they have in surrounding districts. They don’t care what the reality is. They lie.
