What does the future of the NDP have in store? A lot of good, perhaps. But first the party and it's next leader have a lot to figure out.

A conversation on the state of the NDP leadership race:

In his 1987 address to Canada’s Parliament, Reagan hailed free trade as an act of faith in freedom itself, “the open door of cooperation over the closed gate of isolation.”

Alongside Prime Minister Mulroney, he cast the U.S./Canada pact as democracy’s economic twin. 🇺🇸🇨🇦👇

A video of Rob Ashton from awhile back sort of reminds me of Pat Stogran when he first ran for #NDP leadership in 2017. What was his slogan, ‘fighting the good fight’? Stogran’s run was memorable for speaking straight and bringing in folks that are not often associated with the party.

Rumour has it that Rob Ashton will throw his hat in the ring on October 1st for #NDP leadership. I don’t know much about him, but even candidates with limited name recognitions have been documented to become dark horses when it comes to rank ballots.

Avi Lewis and Heather McPherson, excellent candidates so far.

Past #NDP leadership races were often described by the media as boring affairs due to the perceived uniformity of political beliefs, the level of cordiality and the lack of scandals among candidates.

For the federal #NDP to return to their roots is a threat to the two-party system because it can fill a void that #LPC and #CPC cannot touch without destabilizing their own political foundations.

LPC and CPC may prefer the NDP to remain close to the middle of the political spectrum.

Reflecting on Charlie Kirk reminds me of Othello. Yes, Othello attacked Desdemona and it was Iago that set the stage to make it happen.

Would Charlie be Iago and Desdemona the society’s vulnerable? Othello, of course, the far right.

Compared to other provinces, Manitobans tends to punch above their waist (per capita) when posting vintage stuff on Kijiji.

Instead of Walmart, check for comparable items at antique stores (eg tool, decor). Chances are the item will last much longer than what you would find at Walmart.
