Batch five of five is finally in the pot - it’s been a long week on nonstop soup-tending. Up every three hours at night to check on it and top up the water, like having a delicious newborn 🤣 two more days of this, and then I’m done for a bit. I even had to buy a small chest freezer!!

I have been making moose bone broth for almost a week straight!! Some of my students went hunting last weekend, and they got two young moose - they know I love making soup, so they gave me FIVE MASSIVE BONES on Monday 🤯 it’s been nonstop since then…I’m at 17L and still have two bones to go!

I spent the last 48 making *the* most incredible bone broth and soup from fresh moose bones that my work friend hunted on Sunday. I cannot even with the grounding, soul-filling experience of creating food like this. And it was DELICIOUS- easily the best soup I’ve ever eaten, let alone made 😍

I swear the Sunday scaries after Christmas break are a million times worse for high school teachers. We’re staring down final exams in two weeks, still have content to teach, and January always comes with cold weather bus cancelations…not to mention students begging mercy on late work 🙃

Yes…but as the sole income earner in a house with 2 16yo kids, even $70k doesn’t cut it in AB 😔 I have a small mortgage, car & student loans, no other debt. I budget the hell out of my life, my mom pays for half my kids’ music lessons & helps with food, and I still just scrape by at $80k this year.
