I just need to say that I am who I am because @charliehall.bsky.social took a chance on me writing about actual play on Polygon.

Rascal wouldn't exist without those first articles. Every founder of Rascal has written for Polygon under Charlie. The tabletop industry owes so much to him.
the people at polygon are some of the most passionate, hard working people I've ever had the pleasure of working beside. This is fucked.

The people who approved the sale of Polygon to Valnet, knowing what would happen to both its employees and the quality of its work, are sociopaths who deserve to be labeled, treated, and shunned as such. Sick behavior.

this is doubly terrible because polygon was one of the few decent, secure-ish jobs remaining in games journalism, and valnet is… valnet

Just woke up to this news, need to be a little more awake to fully process it, but the people I worked with at Polygon are some of the most kind, insightful, and passionate people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Support them wherever they end up. Also, fuck whoever made this decision.

Stop advocating for trans people by referring to us as canaries in the coal mine.

The whole point of the canary is that it's an acceptable sacrifice to protect the people who actually matter.

We are not a *warning sign*. We are real people. Our lives and rights matter in and of themselves.

This is a clear attempt to drive a small segment of our population out of existence by denying them the means to work, travel, get an education, receive medical care, and otherwise participate in civic life. That it is not drawing the most forceful of denunciations is terrifying.

We are on ULP strike. We gave @nytimes.com management months of notice of our strike deadline, we made ourselves available around the clock, but the company has decided that our members aren’t worth enough to agree to a fair contract and stop committing unfair labor practices.

NYT Games and Cooking are BEHIND THE PICKET LINE. Please don’t play or engage with Games or Cooking content while the strike lasts!

News coverage — including election coverage — is NOT behind the picket line. It’s okay to read and share that, though the site and app may very well have problems.
