The Philadelphia Inquirer continues to furnish a model that NYT can only aspire to live up to. The Times today is a pale image of what it once was.

A president who can tear down 1/3 of the White House can tear down the entire White House. A president who can steal $230M from the treasury can steal $1T from the Treasury. We have both legalized and tolerated Trump’s crimes, so they will only get bigger.

As I’ve been saying, what really attracts Trump to these attacks is that he has unlocked a new power to illegally smite his foes — like Zeus hurling thunderbolts from the heavens. He is addicted to absolute power and it won’t be long before tries to justify extrajudicial killings domestically.
Trump: "I don't think we're gonna necessarily ask for a declaration of war. I think we're just gonna kill people... Okay? We're gonna kill them. They're gonna be, like, dead."

I remember when my toddler reached the poopoo/peepee stage of humor. It was a really fun part of being a parent. Notably, we did not give him the nuclear codes.
The president needs your help! He's collecting diarrhea for his plane. He has a plane that's 99% toilet with other people's diarrhea in it and he wears a little crown when he drives it around. Brave patriots please send your loose stool to your favorite diarrhea president for his diarrhea plane.

This Supreme Court case in Louisiana is about one thing, and one thing only: reinstituting Jim Crow by way of ensuring that Black Americans are taxed without receiving representation in Congress.

Everything else is noise and bluster.

This stolen Supreme Court is going to send us back to the 1860s.

If you're on the fence about going, just think of how much it'll piss off these assholes.

The Middle East is being conned just like America has been conned.

None of what Trump is saying about the Israel-Gaza war being over is true.

None of the agreements he claims have been made have been made, besides a single hostage deal.

He’s lying to the world, and much of the world believes him.

lots of people still don’t believe Team Trump want to crash the economy, likely because it’s hard for normal people to think like sociopaths

Sarah Kendzior is smart to invoke memories of 1980s corporate raiders. That should give many Boomers and some Gen X food for thought. We remember that crap.

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

The endgame for all of this is constructing a military that will obey orders when ordered to fire on citizens. That's the throughline to half of what Trump is doing.
yeah, this is hegseth straightforwardly announcing that it is free play time for bigots in the ranks. and together with his comments on standards, he clearly wants to purge as many women, black and brown people as he can from the armed services. a white man's military.
Hegseth: "We are overhauling an inspector general process that has been weaponized, putting complainers and poor performers in the driver seat. We are doing the same with the equal opportunity policies. No more frivolous complaints, no more anonymous complains ... no more walking on eggshells."

Remember what happened with so-called crack babies? The harm of exposure was wildly overblown by pundits and policymakers. But it was effective for vilifying Black mothers and children and fueling the push for punitive cuts to welfare programs. And I worry he's following a similar playbook here.
