Friday evening viewing recommendation? Watch VELVET GOLDMINE (1998) in our THE 90’s DOES THE 70’s collection!
❤️‍🔥 Todd Haynes’s deliriously glittering, hedonistic glam rock film follows journalist Arthur Stuart (Bale) as he launches an investigation into the mystery of Bowie-esque rocker Brian Slade.

This is the first time I've seen a white person speak this plainly and objectively about what's happening right now without ignoring the brutal social factors at play.

Two queer women with a 6 year old in school today stopped to film ICE and for their bravery ICE agents murdered one before the other’s eyes. The grief in the survivor’s voice is a knife to the gut. Destroying people and their bonds is what ICE has always done.
NEWS: In a heartbreaking video, after ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, a woman who was in the same SUV cries out: “They killed my wife. I don’t know what to do."

“We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head,” the distraught woman sobs.

I believe n individual artists and supervisors like this. The ones that want to make good things and treat people well. Big companies themselves are often corrupt and don’t care about the quality or longevity of the company… but you can still find people who have this attitude and are the real gems.

Paul?? Kentucky’s beautiful broken clock is right once again
Also, 4 Republicans voted nay (Cruz, Lee, Moran, and Paul) & 3 didn't vote (Daines, Hawley, & Moody). Meaning this bill absolutely could not have passed this stage without the support of the Democrats.

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious

-documentary filmmakers
-theater owners
So all of Hollywood.
They aren't opposing this because they secretly want a Paramount merger, it's because the deal will harm their livelihoods.
