The elected leaders of Bothell, WA, a city of 51k just north of Seattle, rank among the biggest YIMBY heroes nationwide.

There's no lack of evidence that reforms like this are the right thing to do.

But in most cities there's a lack of leadership.

New @cascadepbsnewsroom.bsky.social: For disability rights advocates, Seattle's comp plan is seen as a chance to improve accessibility in the city because it will allow more apartments in more neighborhoods. www.cascadepbs.org/politics/202...
Why Seattle’s housing density plans are a disability-rights issue
The city’s comprehensive plan would shift zoning rules to allow more multifamily and mixed-use buildings, which have accessibility requirements.

There's active organizing against adding housing in Tangletown, which has recently lost 2! restaurants in the last 2 months due to a lack of customer base.

i've heard a lot about the centrality of "alignment problem" in A(G)I development

seems like coordination/alignment within & between states (groups of people & their institutions) is a very tangible alignment problem, and apt problem space for AI tooling

can we learn about alignment by *doing* it?

Yea, you can't reach anyone if you're chucking your stuff into a giant black hole. At least no one in this universe.
i am of course a lil bit conflicted about leaving X (not bc of my followers but bc the job is to reach people and i think filter bubbles can have real effects too) but i think what Musk has done changes the calculus and i laid that case out here
