I remember when my relationship with computers was a lot more "this is neat" and a lot lot less "this is absolute fucking bullshit". It was more love, less hate.

At some point, it became more hate, less love.

I find it hilarious that I was Top 10% in category on Golden Tee Classic, despite having streamed that one only *twice*, during my temporary pinball hiatus after the VPUniverse staff basically said they're all in on the idea of AI.

So now they want people to stone us. How biblical.

I started running into this last week, trying to access the CC Libraries content in InDesign. The library is LOCALLY stored. It appears that Adobe finally decided that the older version of InDesign we're using shouldn't have access to it. We have a plugin that we need that older version for.

This line from Count Zero by William Gibson has haunted my thoughts ever since I first read it:

“And, for an instant, she stared directly into those soft blue eyes and knew, with an instinctive mammalian certainty, that the exceedingly rich were no longer even remotely human.”

As an example, 2 years ago Arcade1Up showed that they had the capability to display ads on the online leaderboard capable cabinets they were selling for home use. This was when I decided some of their offerings were not for me.

Can someone point to the EULA where I agreed to allowing ads on my Tron Cab?

Little TV screens at the gas station pump blaring ads directly in your face as you spend $70 on a tank of gas is enough to radicalize a person

Hahaha, right?! Or what about mandatory disclosures for the discrepancy between the salaries of the CEO and their lowest paid worker? That would be so funny, right?! Let’s do it as a funny joke!!!

I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

I have come to the "horrible" realization that my wife @systemreactor.bsky.social has spoiled me on store bought treats.

Cheesecake? Eggnog? Lemon Bars? I'm RUINED on the store bought version of those now. Utterly, totally RUINED. They're all way too sweet for me now. I need homemade by my wife.

So I get to do manual intervention to get our file server back up correctly after a power failure last night.

It's probably time for me to look at better options for our network transfer and storage means.
