thinking about how my parents escaped vietnam, where the CIA destabilized my family's home country by spreading misinformation, and they landed in the united states, which is now getting destabilized bc someone in vietnam is spreading misinformation
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

Newly asserting that it's seditious to defy "MY" orders.
That their illegality is immaterial, or up to trump and his pocket scotus to determine.
Any defiance of trump, not even of the presidential office, but of him personally, is automatically a crime in this new formulation. L'etat c'est moi.

This assessment of Home Alone will have you rethinking a lot about two beloved Christmas films.
Home Alone makes changes to the Die Hard formula that render it hard for me to enjoy. The McClain character should feel overawed. And in theory having Kevin be a child versus adults achieves that. But the thing is: Kevin is a god. It's not just Tom & Jerry. This is some random punks versus Anansi.

Axios absolutely got played

As Michael Weiss showed yesterday, Kirill Dmitriev used Axios to manufacture the illusion of a serious Ukraine “peace plan” -- when it was just a Russian wish list

The result: absolute chaos in DC, Kyiv, and European capitals

I don't follow Nichols but good to know this still.
Your periodic reminder that @radiofreetom.bsky.social who many of you like to follow, and who writes for the Atlantic, was pushing the great replacement theory before Trump and has never apologized for it. He's part of what got us here.
