New paper out with a blueprint for a proper European industrial policy in the automotive sector.

The urgent issue is to offset geopolitical demand shocks - coordinated EV subsidies of the big four (FR FR ES IT) could cover 70% of the EU market.

Very true, this: voters in Europe are ahead of most governing elites on European integration.

The same goes for another once ‘sensitive’ dossier: support for Gaza/Palestine
EU integration has historically been a top-down project. That may be changing. On defense, in particular, voters seem to be willing to go further in advancing EU sovereignty than its economic and political elites. 👉 With @alanderminna.bsky.social for @politico.eu
