This large crane is soaring through a background of flawless turquoise. Its head is straight forward and its legs are straight back. The wings are outstretched and curved slightly downwards, as it goes through its downbeat. The overall color is lightly mottled gray, but the flight feathers are darker at their tips. On the left wing its easier to see how the wingtip feathers are spread, not unlike fingers. The forehead is red. The visible yellow eye is looking straight at the photographer. The beak is black and, compared to the bird as a whole, not that long.
