I was today years old when I learned that the Mariners had a mascot named Spacey the Needle for a few games in 1979.

It was gone quickly, in part because stilts make hijinx difficult.

Note: Spacey died on the way back to his home planet.

Just got fired from being a freshman football coach, if you want to know what MAGA does to communities.

They don’t care about what helps people, because the school is certainly not going to find an ex-NFL player willing to coach there at that level, they only care about trying to hurt people.

i think this is basically what has happened a big chunk of the american pundit class
One of my best friends is from a sleepy, wealthy small town in the south-west of Germany. He said, so many of my parents’ neighbours are rich and bored, with little to complain about, and they’ve radicalised themselves at dinner parties and online. In their aimlessness, they’ve bonded over hate.
This isn’t some rant saying “Germany has learned nothing from its past” - the reality is more subtle than that. Middle-class Germans live and travel with an incredible amount of ease and comfort, and they just got…sleepy. Many of them dismissed the far-right’s rage as just another set of complaints.

Here’s a longer version of the 100-foot Mavericks wave surfed last week by Alo Slebir of Santa Cruz. He even made the second section, which tends to close out. He’s either lucky or crazy or brave, but what a ride!

There were at least 2 whales right off of the Santa Cruz Wharf at sunset today and they were my first whale sightings of the year 🐋🐋
