People should use their SNAP benefits for whatever they think they need. Both because any effort you make to micromanage purchases is inefficient and cumbersome and because people who need help aren’t obligated to perform for or satisfy others in order to eat.

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

She really thought she was cookin'. He's going to have a thoughtful, meaningful response to the gotchas because he's not parroting a list of punchy sound bites. Mamdani clearly understands the intricacies of what he's fighting for AND what stands in the way of good policy.
