Went to an early Halloween party last night as Magenta from Rocky Horror Picture Show. No one recognized it, everyone thought I was a maid. We are truly in dark times.

My goto is to ask LLMs how many states have R in their name. They always fail. GPT 5 included Indiana, Illinois, and Texas in its list. It then asked me if I wanted an alphabetical highlighted map. Sure, why not.

My understanding is that it's harder to convict on 1st degree charges as prosecutors have to prove intent beyond reasonable doubt. 2nd degree charges rely more on the evidence of what actually happened.

Every time I’ve had a person tell me they’re using ChatGPT for something in real life it’s always been for something where my first though is, “you couldn’t do that on your own?”

Heartbroken about the horrific murder of Jonathan Joss. I got to meet him at Indigenous Comic Con in Albuquerque and give him some homemade cookies. He was such a charming and genuine person.

Henry II gets a lot of shit for the Thomas Beckett thing, but this was the type of situation he was trying to prevent.
Reading the new pope's Wikipedia page, and that tracks.

My dad worked a chemical manufacturing plant at a small city in Oregon that specialized in resins for commercial use. He believed his job site was a target and took it upon himself to do perimeter checks.
If you’re too young to remember 9/11, one of the things about the subsequent 3-4 years if if you lived by The World’s Biggest Fork, people would be like “we need to be careful, that fork could be a target, terrorists hate our fork”

Other atheists should follow my lead and just be chill.
Oh gosh the atheists found my post about wanting to be a Hebrew Bible scholar, and they're being about as annoying as you'd think.

In the last week I cooked some banger dishes, but a couple of them were not very pretty. Maybe it's time to start sharing our ugly but delicious foods. Maybe this is our casserole era.

Tip from my grandma: go to a liquor store and ask for their empty boxes. They are a little bit smaller so you're less likely to pack more books than you can lift, and they're stronger than other boxes so less likely to fall apart.

Completely agree with this thread. Elon has been publicly terrible for 20+ years. If any current Tesla owner didn't know, it's because they didn't want to know.
I don’t think it’s useful, generally, to talk about individual flying monkeys. After all, they’re just doing what the Satsuma wants.

But I do think, we need to fact check the -

Casualties of the decimating of arts education.
Where are the country songs lamenting Long Covid? Where are the angry punk/hip-hop songs protesting our society's lack of action? Where are the folk ballads chronicling our healthcare workers' struggles? Why is there a hole where our culture's heart should be?

Same for ChatGPT and other AI chat bots. The intellectual laziness of it! It's so disheartening to see their users so cheerfully complicit in their own cognitive decline.
The Google AI results at the top of searches are so pointless. We have a resource (the internet!) that knows everything, and instead of going to the source, it's like you asked your stupid cousin who is trying to recall the information from a podcast he heard last week.
