It's never talked about bc of whitewashing of Imperial Japan's crimes on account of it being a 100% US client regime after WWII, but the crimes of Imperial Japan in China were *probably* the most brutal of any ethno-nationalist colonial regime ever, probably worse than even Leopold II in the Congo.

Hundreds killed w/ hundreds more tortured in military prison.
