We've made improvements, especially with the Future Soldier Preparatory course....but are we sure this isn't just a blinking red economic indicator? I would bet a weaker civ job market has a lot more to do with improved recruiting than lethality vs wokeness

The Military’s Recruiting Surge | National Review
For a few years, the all-volunteer military construct was failing. Fresh thinking, financial resources, and untold amounts of effort have turned things around.

Before there was Veterans Day, there was Armistice Day. We shouldn't have changed it. When we rattle sabers and hold human life cheaply, I think about this dedication from my Great Grandfather's WWI unit history. Armistice Day was as much of a warning as it was a celebration.

Lest we forget.

What a dumb way to end that game. MLF should've at least given Love a chance at the Hail Mary

Hi folks! A few thoughts on this essay, and the questions that we *should* be asking, rather than the ones this Army officer seems inclined to answer. I haven’t done a CMR thread in a while so I’m overdue. 🧵
Hard to imagine a more sinister & dangerous argument, couched in euphemism & high-minded language. "This essay does not argue liberalism will collapse, only that [US] military officers should be intellectually (and spiritually) prepared for alternatives." warontherocks.com/2025/10/the-...

As usual for Jack Watling, this is a fabulously data & evidence-rich paper on what the Ukrainian battlefield looks like today. A pivotal role for drones & ground robots—but also for tanks, armour & artillery, each coming into its own at different moments in an assault www.rusi.org/explore-our-...

At least they came away with the field goal, but why did LaFleuer have them throw on 3rd and 2, in side 2 minutes? Worst case, run is stuffed and the bengals have to burn their last time out

So what does it all mean?

– Denuclearization is dead. Beijing now hosts Kim without nuclear caveats.
– Russia-DPRK ties are deepening, with China tolerating it.
– Seoul is sidelined.
– Trump faces a harder negotiating landscape than in 2018.

Which part of the "fast, cheap, good" triangle do you think a defense contractor would give up?
The United States has to fund legacy munitions, modern systems, and next-gen tech at once. The only way to reconcile that tension? Speed.

The whole article is wild, but this quote was the most revealing to me. The man has no reason to exist beyond just existing. A society organized around merely existing as "the highest virtue" sounds incredibly shallow and dystopic.

Just watched the movie Warfare. While I think it was shot well, and feels very intense, the writing and plotting left a lot to be desired. With only the context of the film, the SEAL's mission has no purpose or logic.
