Once again, "The future of war is here, and, conveniently, I have it for sale"

A lot of people just read the first part of the book and skipped the "Last Man" part

A true sicko team - above .500, but less than 250 yds/gm. Punter must be off the charts

The whole article is wild, but this quote was the most revealing to me. The man has no reason to exist beyond just existing. A society organized around merely existing as "the highest virtue" sounds incredibly shallow and dystopic.

The cost ratio still doesn't work, but MPAT-Air has been around awhile, and the new AMP round (should?) work better for air targets. "Wall of Steel" isn't exactly a new TTP for air threats

As a Wisconsinite, I was legally obligated to try these.

He did. Which makes the current actions harder to understand.

The Ender's Game quote really completes the whole "Don't Create the Torment Nexus" meme

"For most American officers, the dominance of highly mobile and lightly armed infantry was simply a principle of warfare..."

It's interesting that Pershing saw the adaptations the Brits and French had made since 1914, and still believed in the superiority of American "open warfare"

Who counseled this guy? He couldn't scratch the same itch through a branch transfer or an SF packet? Go to Ranger School? The Army is a big place with options if you're unhappy with your current track

Started "Real Soldiering" and a couple things really interest me:

1. No one knows they are an interwar Army. There only are post war armies juggling new responsibilities with post war cuts.

2. Post-war, the Army has always struggled to recruit and service has usually been seen as a low status job

This sounds like when "unnamed sources" from rival teams "raise questions" about a much more successful franchise

Started "To the End of the Earth", and was reminded how warped our popular memory of the Pacific is. Some islands were "Hell in a Small Place," but Leyte, Luzon, Okinawa took multiple US Army corps. It's not a huge stretch to imagine the Army's role in an INDOPACOM conflict, we've already done it.
