Donald Trump should be in jail right now, but instead America put him back into office so he could do *gestures* all of this.

But supposedly, a slightly older man, a Black woman, and trans children playing Little League were bigger existential threats. So here we are.

This guy should have no role in running our government. We didn’t elect him. He’s not a gov’t employee who is accountable. He hasn’t taken an oath to uphold the constitution or work on behalf of the American people. He’s in it for himself not for us.

We’ve been on the phone with multiple agencies/orgs. They’ve been completely cut off from federal money. We’re talking housing, homeless services, public safety, etc.

I’m calling a press conference today to explain how this could have drastic local impacts to our constituents.

Your 'doom quote' for today:

"Catastrophic blazes have spanned the planet from Australia to the Arctic, and wildfires have torched large swaths of the western U.S., all fulfilling forecasts much faster than scientists had predicted. It’s as if the wildfires of 2050 are already here."

Here, as in so many areas, our inability to plan ahead or rationally consider trade-offs is going to fck us in the end. And when a situation like this grows into a full-on, urgent disaster, guess who gets screwed? The poor. That's where all this is heading: even more grotesque inequality.

And in other news... water is wet.

Of course wealthy women were involved in the trade of human beings! They benefited from the labor like men did! It is limiting to think of this as just "white women". Latinas participated too. Women run households- who do you think picked the "employees"?
Scholars argued for generations that white women were rarely involved in the American slave trade. A growing body of research is challenging that narrative, documenting their significant role.

NJ- Pls call Sen. Booker + urge him to get the PRESS Act out of Committee. If the press can't keep their sources confidential- then how will we (the public) ever find out about whats going on with the new Trump administration? Dedicated civil servants need to be able to get the stories out.
Senator Booker is on the Judiciary Committee where the PRESS Act is being held up. Let him know this bill is a priority for you to enshrine protections for journalists to conduct journalism!

Call his office at (202) 224-3224 or use this form: go.peoplepower.org/letter/congr...

I think you can end the sentence with just "...Trump's cabinet is about getting revenge."

Period.

It is not any deeper than that.
We've moved past the end of #MeToo. Now, @lebassett.bsky.social writes, Trump's cabinet is about getting revenge for the movement, which sprouted in popularity largely in response to Trump becoming president (among numerous other factors). www.thecut.com/article/trum...

I told a reporter writing about CDR and COP28 that the most valuable thing CDR provides at the moment is greenwashing.

His response: “Oh wow.”

I don’t know if it’ll make it into the story.
We need to research and develop CO₂ removal (CDR) now because it’s needed in the future, but CDR is useless as a climate solution until we decarbonize drastically.
