It's a sad day in the neighborhood - and a major dimming at Christmastime in Bloomington-Normal.
Mike Holtz died unexpectedly Friday.
Mike Holtz?
Sure you know him. He was the "crazy guy" - his words, not mine - who spent 40 years turning his Hovey Avenue home into a glowing, full-boat bonkers North Pole outpost.
Thirteen hundred blow molds. In the yard, on the porch, on the roof. Everywhere.
The man became locally legendary, then nationally noticed. Even made the New York Times.
Joke was, the place was so bright that satellites didn't need coordinates - they just waved.
Mike was 64.
A dark day on Hovey Avenue.
Sadly, literally.

Oh this is reminding me of my high school’s football team my freshman and sophomore year, average score of 40-0 and it wasn’t because we had a good quarterback 😂😂
Notre Dame leads Syracuse 21-0 and the Fighting Irish offense has not taken the field yet.
