Oh, right, this goes live today. I should probably say something.
You Will Die In This Place by Shrike Studio - Gamefound
You Will Die In This Place is a nihilistic survival-horror dungeon crawl TTRPG about exile, decay, and the inevitability of death.

Aha, I am sharing some of this after all!
I'm actually way more happy to be commissioned to draw giant robot. After all not artist get to do it!

Aah, there are few things more exciting than waking up to an awesome colour/composition sketch for your project by a commissioned artist. I won't share the early progress here yet, but @redregenmann.bsky.social is exceptionally talented if you ever need that classic anime style for something.

The mechanics of a game are no less important than the tense and narrative structure of a novel. You might be able to tell the same story, but the feeling is completely different.

It occurred to me that the Abyssal Labyrinth might actually be a pretty nice place if you ignore what the Royal Orthodoxy of Ashendeep has to say about it. @eerieseymour.bsky.social gave me the idea to make some postcards. I still need to do 'We all have to die somewhere. Why not here?'

I hate vague posting about my mental health, despite being quite guilty of it at times. I have been in a major depressive episode since June with frequent severe panic attacks, sometimes several times a day that last for hours at a time. This is the longest and third worst bout I have ever had.

Writing this part was very fun, but did make me feel a bit wicked.
I didn't get a chance to mention this about new moot (hi!) @liz-shrikestudio.bsky.social's meta-horror novella-slash-TTRPG, You Will Die in This Place?

... but it's often *incredibly* wryly funny, and comes complete with one of the greatest disses at D&D's alignment system I've ever seen.

Thank you for this. I'm always a little overwhelmed when someone devotes so much time and thought to my writing. More so when the writing is as personal as this one.
... That magical moment when you start reading a book, and you don't realize hours have passed until you reach the end.

"Oh, damn, when did it get so dark?"

... So I finished reading "You Will Die in this Place," or at least its preview. You see, YWDITP is a *highly* ambitious dark fantasy...

I wanted to make a solo or duet journaling game for a poetry inspired game jam a while ago, but my mood has stalled productivity for a few months now. Dusted off the notes yesterday and started tentatively putting something together. I am looking forward to working on it with my talented friend.

And now we get ready to endure the weekly ritual of being deadnamed by my parents, who absolutely know and choose to pretend that they don't. It's a complicated situation. I'm working up the resolve to confront them about it, but I'm not there yet.

As someone who has never enjoyed the more typical Tolkien and feudal European inspired fantasy settings, Gideon the Ninth really appealed to me. It's one of my favourite 'recent' novels, up there with Venomous Lumpsucker.
#Bookvember 9

I really love Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. It is so weird and wonderful at the same time. A spooky, haunted house story but in space with weird death magic and angry lesbians? What's not to love?

Was a tad held up with personal stuff over the week, but wanted to share this interview I did with @liz-shrikestudio.bsky.social for her horror TTRPG, for @rascal.news - one of the most fascinating projects I've read these days
"There’s a lot of me in this project. Even if I’m often hiding behind the voices of Charlotte and Samantha."

@liz-shrikestudio.bsky.social tells Rascal about the process of creating her pseudo-autobiographical horror RPG about finding meaning before death, but also accepting the unknowable.
You Will Die In This Place is an autobiographical RPG told through multiple, fictional perspectives
You will be drawn to this game.

Old Morris Cave is just an absolute sleeper hit that more of us ought to be trying out.
Finally played Tim Hutching's Old Morris Cave/Thousand Year Old Campfire yesterday, which I've been meaning to for a long time, and it slaps pretty hard. This is 100% my speed right now—pretty simple, pretty rich, and lots of design things to think about...

Stumbled across a tumblr post by someone who fell asleep after reading You Will Die In This Place and had a nightmare which inspired them to write a little horror vignette. I'm not sure whether Charlotte would be pleased or horrified.

Aaah, work starts back up tomorrow, I'm running a crowdfunding campaign, and various parts of my life are falling apart. But it's November, so that means we're writing a novel again. 15,000 words in two days. That's a sustainable pace, right?

Every ttrpg is required to have a 'freak' class. Like one that objectively stands out as "What the fuck is wrong with you" compared to the others

Finally visited @iglootree.bsky.social yesterday as part of a day out in London. Quite a long way from Norwich, but well worth the trip. Great guys and a great shop packed with all kinds of delightful roleplaying games, graphic novels, zines and the like. I picked up Troika, a long overdue purchase.
