I'm whatever the opposite of a shitposter is.

I just want to find out about books and other forms of art, and have conversations about animals and plants and people doing their best in this hellscape.
Read this (then of course read Hild and Menewood if you have not)

Seriously. Top of your TBR
This is such a lovely, perceptive, beautifully conceived critical appraisal that even if you never plan to read my novels, you should read the review essay. 💕 Deeply interesting in its own right!
You should start with _Hild_ and you should then read _Menewood_. strangehorizons.com/wordpress/no...

Unfollow or block every single person who uses body shaming or homophobia to attack anyone, including fascists.

It’s just lazy. And wrong.

Fash are such easy targets, we can all do better.

And the attack never lands on them. It lands on the fat/old/queer person who reads it.

PSA: if you are a cannabis grower in the United States or have been thinking about starting to grow, get any seeds you’ve been wanting to buy online before the end of the year. The new changes to the hemp laws make buying seeds online illegal again as of January 1, 2026

Me: it’s all muscle memory now, I can play the post-ending version of Hades 2 on painkillers after a hard day deep-cleaning the house. I want to finish the story, it’ll be fine.

Game: surprise! You now randomly drop into the first game’s boss fight no matter how few boons you have

No human on earth should go without access to nourishing food, a safe home, and adequate healthcare

Borders should be abolished

Coercive hierarchy should be dismantled at every opportunity

(Ok maybe I’m actually 357 woke opinions in a trenchcoat)
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Everything about SARS-CoV-2 weakens us as a species. Population-level immune dysregulation leading to both reactivation of latent pathogens and creating niches for new ones; the politicisation of our response regressing public health and massively amplifying anti-vax ideology.

My most woke opinion concerns what we should do with billionaires and it can’t be shared in public

But I’m 158 woke opinions in a trenchcoat, so…
everyone should be vegan. it's not that hard and it's obviously morally better

I had the best conversation with today’s chimney sweep. Turns out that of course I know half his relatives (rural life) but I didn’t know that he is planning and building an amazing off the grid farm nearby. Super fun to hear about while he made sure we were ready for winter

Ok so far, being unemployed is exhausting. All the neglected chores have become urgent. Plumber and heating engineer and chimney sweep and getting the house semi-presentable for the lot of them.

Am now flopped in on an armchair now with ice on various joints

I know *why* I feel so low (season change, legal fuckery, job change worries, grief, stress-eating junk instead of healthy food)

It’s just annoying that knowing doesn’t fix a damn thing.

It’s just one foot in front of the other time for a while. Do the job that’s in front of me, Sam Vimes style.

France: "Wearing a mask is once again mandatory in Paris hospitals"

"Faced with a rapid rise in respiratory infections, several hospitals in the Île-de-France region have decided to reinstate mandatory mask-wearing for healthcare workers, visitors, and patients over the age of 6."

Anyway this 58 year old late gamer perma-beat both bosses in Hades 2 last night.

Video games are art, and building new skills is amazing
One reason I slept in: I beat that fucker late last night!

I stopped doing the "gifted kid" thing where I had to intuit all the techniques myself. And watched a bunch of YouTube videos. And got there

Holly the nervous rescue cat used the stairs I set up for her* and took herself to bed before I was even done with work.

I miss Boy Cat so much but seeing Hols happy in a new place means a lot

*she is a bit of a mutant- smart and beautiful but has has short legs and isn’t great at jumping

It’s dark as night here and SO RAINY

Set the new overhead SAD lamp to “warm tone” and Holly (who is usually on a windowsill by now) has joined me under it
November 11, 2025 at 9:51 AM
I fell asleep on the bed listening to a book and (worried rescue cat) Holly stayed with me for 90 minutes.

This is the longest she has stayed in the bedroom since becoming the only cat (cat politics meant it wasn’t her territory before)

❤️💔❤️

This account continues to brutally murder me.
Pippa Durham, 38, was looking forward to a new six-part series billed as a bodice-ripping retelling of the Dissolution of the Monasteries. However, she spotted a 20th-century doorknob in the background of one of the shots and has been livid ever since.

My darlings, I have been home from international travel for a week. I’m immunocompromised.

And despite being in a room for days with someone who tested + for #Covid, and sitting on a plane with someone visibly unwell

I AM NOT SICK

Another negative (pluslife molecular) covid test!

I feel tired and run down, so still worried. But that could be jetlag and grief and hating my job

Another negative (pluslife, molecular, expensive) Covid test!

Still anxious about my seatmate on Friday’s flight and I don’t know the incubation periods of all the variants RN.

Also I’m an idiot and forgot to skip methotrexate, so my Covid vax is at ~25% potency

So much work, staying alive

Good Morning Blue Sky! Hope you’re all ok? Today I’m currently reading and highly enjoying Firstborn of the Sun by Marvellous Michael Anton for some epic fantasy back in my life. What are you reading at the moment?

Woke up at home! Have slept but still hurt all over!

Time to hydrate and start the pluslife Covid tests.

I’m particularly worried about my seatmate on the long flight home. He was 88 years old, chatty, and symptomatic with *something*

Was my mask game good enough or am I fucked?
