my wishlist for the 2025 cycling season:
🐝 olav kooij TDF début (+ stage win)
🚴‍♀️vollering thrives away from SDWorx
🟡 roglič/vingegaard/an underdog wins the TDF
🤳TDT unibet have a great season
💪 cian back on form
🇫🇷 alaphilippe/girmay/o’connor upwards trajectory continues
❌ no more pogačar dominance
I know it’s early but what are your wishes for the 2025 season

I’ll start:

WVA redemption arc: Roubaix or Flanders win (or both!)
Vollering redemption arc: Changes teams and wins the TdFF for a French team
Pfeiffer Georgi recovers from her injury and reclaims British Title
I saw someone do one of these for tennis which was fun, so I did a cycling version in case no one else has! For the 2025 season, what was your:

🏁Race OTY
⛰️Grand Tour OTY
💃Performance OTY
🏆Win OTY
💪🏽Comeback OTY
😮Shock Result OTY
📰Outside-of-Racing Story OTY

(for the men or women or both!)

Is it just me, or is this NSN Sports swooping in to ”take over” IPT thing quite suspicious?

why are the Netherlands so good at track cycling? is it a super common sport there, or are they investing loads of money into it, etc?

was having a great time watching the track world champs, so excited to have all my favourite riders back on my screen and actually see some exciting and varied racing again

…and then lorena wiebes shows up😔

Spain made a very good statement about the UCI's ongoing endorsement of using pro cycling to launder Israel's reputation

Genuinely baffled about riders who decide that now is the perfect time to sign for a team bearing the name of a government that has been committing genocide for a while. It was already weird, but now that public opinion is finally starting to turn it's even more perplexing.

In his first race since the Tour de France, Remco Evenepoel wins the queen stage of the Tour of Britain!

The UCI and IPT are so blind to the potential dangers ahead. They just condemn the protests and say they aren't affective. They are very affective.

IPT should really be taken out of La Vuelta now as it is becoming dangerous for their riders and staff as well as everyone else at the race.

I don’t buy the excuses that these "apolitical" riders are only coming out with these ignorant quotes because they’re "banned" from saying what they truly feel, when Pello Bilbao has been openly posting and speaking on this for ages

if he can do it, everyone can🤷‍♀️ it’s a choice.

People making excuses for cyclists balking at making any statement. Guys it's okay you don't have to justify it. They're cowards concerned with their job, which doesn't make them especially evil, it makes them average, and it does make them cowardly

if the UCI really believes that hard in "no politics" in cycling and the sport is "an expression of sportmanship" or w/e their cope is, why did they so swiftly ban russian teams & force russian riders under a neutral flag back in 2022?

The commentators for Eurosport were disgraceful. Full shilling, blaming the protesters and saying they support the right to protest as long as it doesn't "ruin things for other" aka as long as we can ignore it

The UCI should give the team a choice, either remove any reference to Israel from all team branding & communications and race as Team Premier Tech, or stop racing, for the safety of the entire race convoy and roadside spectators, and to preserve the integrity of the sporting competition #LaVuelta25

Protest needs to be disruptive. The Basque people showed us today: There is no normal race possible here as long as a team that is used by its owner to sportswash a genocide is competing. Since no riders were harmed, I am in full solidarity with the protesters

Endangering riders aside - which they didn't today - protests DEFINITELY have a place in sports. Protests NEED to be disruptive. The NEED to enter into people's everyday life and disrupt them. They are not supposed to be nice and pleasant, they are about VISIBILITY. And thus they DO belong in sport.

seeing people broadcast how sorry they feel for professional cyclists just because they didn’t get to win one stage out of however many races they’ll ride in their career, but not the masses of people being killed, starved and displaced from their homes every day, is…something
