A nice obituary for Alice, who was going to be recognized as one of The Post 50.

I hate that we now have to live without this phenomenal woman.

Read this thread today and am pondering my life as an American who intentionally and diligently lives a life with kindness, empathy and authenticity at the core. Current conditions/actors attempt to sway us from these values. I will not concede.
They are hiding behind their rage and grief to avoid looking at what they are doing

Their grief and rage is real, and it very hard to hold space for that when our grief and rage is belittled and dismissed, every time

Their feelings are treated as facts, ours treated as punchlines. For years

This one’s been on my list for while…
One of the things I enjoy most about summer is that I get to hack away at the pile of books I really want to read but can't get to during the school year. First on the list this year was "Holding It Together" by @jessicacalarco.com. Trust me, you need to read this book. 1/

Among my regular passengers on the 44 are two young boys who ride with their grandma from California and 6th Ave all the way to Silver and Palou. The older brother is possibly a 2nd grader. Last night as they were getting off my bus, he handed me this hand made envelope.

What is the point? Are we just dismantling all of government now?

Nearly everyone in America is touched in some way by dementia and Alzheimer's.

There is no rationale for cuts like this. We're seeing malevolent men taking glee in causing anguish.
Awful: Numerous scientists and researchers were just fired at NIH's center for treating Alzheimer's, sources tell me. They fear Trump-Musk cuts could dramatically set back our ability to treat dementias.

Today, I found out that the Department of Defense banned the Well-Read Black Girl anthology by Glory Edim. I was one of its contributors.

I'm really hurt right now. So if you have it in you, please buy books by Black women from independent bookstores.

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Here's the reality about the #LAFires this week: this isn't the first time ANY of these places have burned. Not even close. In 2018, we mapped CA fire history to look at fire frequency across SoCal. Santa Monica Mtns area burns more than anywhere else -- up to once per decade in a given spot. 🧵
