Donald Trump sparked outrage worldwide with his shocking display of bullying at Friday's Oval office meeting with Ukraine’s President Zelensky. Now, over 145,000 of us are calling to cancel his second UK state visit - will you join the backlash too? you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no...
No second state visit for Trump
Unbelievable. Keir Starmer has handed Donald Trump a letter from King Charles, inviting him for a second state visit to the UK. It’s totally unprecedented, and should not go ahead.  This is the...

The independent bookshops do so much to support authors and small indie presses, not to mention the contribution they make to their communities. Please support them if you can.
If you are able, please do support Indy bookshops.

The near monopoly of an online giant is skewering the industry.

Without Indies, we simply wouldn't be here.

I know most of the bird life round here so I got excited when I heard an unfamiliar call from this tree. I set the Merlin bird app on it but that didn’t recognise it either. Scoured the tree methodology, imagining myself on the local news but of course, it was a squirrel

Every time you don't buy a book from Amazon, but use a good indie store who actually values the sale & treats you & your purchase with respect, the sun shines brighter, floofy puppies gambol in fresher grass, & Jeff Bezos's piles sting for just a biiiit longer.

Sounds GREAT to me.

Buy independent.

this interview - Lynn Barber on Marianne Faithfull - is the sort of brilliant, bonkers thing nobody writes anymore. It reads like a meeting of fabulous monsters

Late, rude and unapologetic... and then the interview goes from bad to worse. But after some prompting and wine, Marianne Faithfull talks to Lynn Barber about finding a new lover at last, what she rea...

I need, I realize, to filter his utterances through transcripts. The very sound of his voice—profoundly smug, profoundly stupid—fills me with rage.

(I knew this the first time around. I just forgot.)

I love this so much!

At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions.

This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.

Beavers are more than flood fighters—they’re river cleaners! 🌊
Beaver dams slashed Norfolk pollutants, with downstream water 75% meeting EU ‘good’ standards. A powerful case for rewilding.

Could beavers really rescue Norfolk’s threatened chalk streams?
Norfolk’s river Glaven is one of our rare chalk streams, and the site of an interesting experiment in environmental restoration.

Public lending right day!

My thanks to library users for all the support for my books. Great to know my three books are being borrowed and read (and hopefully enjoyed).

It was the libraries that made me a reader, so I'm honoured to play some small part in keeping that going.
