Contrary to Trump’s grotesque, self-congratulatory press releases, he has not ended gender-affirming care for young people; rather, as the health care workers I spoke to this week made clear, hospital management, boards, and their legal advisers have ended it for him. My new story:
The Blue-State Hospitals Carrying Out Trump’s Anti-Trans Agenda
In states where gender-affirming care remains legal, some hospitals have nonetheless stopped providing it. What gives?

While Trump announced he will deploy the national guard and take over DC's police force, @freedcproject.bsky.social held their own press conference. They called on DC residents to make as much noise as possible for 5 minutes at 8 pm as long as the deployment lasts and to get involved in the campaign

The irony is not lost on many in Washington that Trump says spitting on a DC cop is justification for hitting/punching back "hard" when he pardoned hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted those same cops — and said attacks on them that day were "minor."

Every story quoting Trump saying this is to "rescue our nation’s capital from crime" needs to note that violent crime in D.C. is down 26%, murders are down 12%, juvenile arrests are down 20%, and ask who will get hurt from a domestic military deployment and what this "crackdown" is really about

And if you haven't read this shattering ProPublica piece about the effects of Covid on pregnancies, you should take a deep breath and do so:
“God, No, Not Another Case.” COVID-Related Stillbirths Didn’t Have to Happen.
A lack of testing data and government guidance led many to avoid the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy, unwittingly increasing their chances of a stillbirth.

I don't know how long it'll stay, but as of the moment I'm posting, the CDC — the same agency Kennedy just announced is un-recommending Covid vaccines during pregnancy — lists pregnancy as a condition for which evidence shows "a conclusive increase in risk for at least one severe COVID-19 outcome"

Chuck Schumer said two months ago that Republicans would restore the money they cut to DC in the continuing resolution. Two months later and the House GOP hasn't taken it up.
It’s officially been two months since the Senate passed a simple fix to let DC access its own tax dollars.

Instead of passing this completely free fix, House Republicans are sitting on their asses and prolonging pain for hundreds of thousands of DC residents.
