@onyxaminedlife on Twitter. Chicago trans woman/entity/entities. She/her or they/them. A short story writer and all around pretentious person. Weird jokes, political rants, some positivity. Friendly!

The basic concept behind tabletop games is pretty simple. Players represent all the characters who are human. The GM, or game master, represents everyone who's a Muppet

HUGE fan of this new @lilliekoi.bsky.social story we are featuring in @hexliterary.bsky.social this week! Lillie captures so well the prickliness of childhood. Don't miss this new creeper!

New flash out with Hex Literary about the horror of childhood and the allure of finally finding an escape! I’m proud of this one!

“Eli says he wants to show me a secret. He says even his mom doesn’t know it, and she’s always spying on him trying to figure it out.”
"Eli says I can come over on Saturday, but I have to be quiet when we go inside, because his mom will be home all day."

We are so stoked to feature a new one by @lilliekoi.bsky.social today that is absolutely oozing with a phenomenal sense of childhood dread and weirdness. Don't miss "Out," up now!

“Take me out to the ball game” is just an ode to 1908 gamer girls. I love that every baseball game, it’s a tradition to stand up, raise your voice, and imagine a girl who’s just not like other girls. She’s into baseball, and she even knows how many strikes make an out!

The quote “Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it” is often taken out of context. George Santayana was talking specifically about Starfleet officers trapped in the Typhon Expanse

This is a number that's worth having in your head to get a sense of the scale of the issue here. The same amount of need. One tenth of the support. That's not business as usual. That's a sudden and utterly preventable cataclysm.

Importantly, unlike trans people, transphobes absolutely won’t suffer to live their identity. They hurt trans people because they can get away with it, and if they stop getting away with it, all but, like, three of them will cut it out.
We need to push for the total exclusion of transphobes from public life. Trans-eliminationists can then be faced with a choice of shutting the fuck up or a miserable life (more miserable than they already are).

If someone says they're not interested in a relationship with you because you're "incompatible" that's code for you being faster than their walking speed but slower than their running speed

There's something so wild about admitting there is no compromising with transphobes and then wishing for better transphobes with whom to compromise. Realizing there's no reason to sacrifice the dignity and autonomy of your own community and it makes you angry because you wanted that reason.
Go fuck yourself

This story is a little grim from the point of view of humans but it’s pretty cute if you imagine them as mosquito explorers. One of them has a little tiny compass and one has a pith hat, and when they land, they fly to the ground and kiss it with their proboscises

In horror movies, you've always got a community of side characters who just kind of accept that there's one place near where they live that's cursed and evil and you're never, ever allowed to go there, and I relate to that because it's basically how I handle cleaning my apartment

One major problem with the movie Groundhog Day (1993) is that at no point does Phil Conners ever attempt to prevent 9/11. You’re telling me that the universe decided playing the piano a little and wooing a girl is good enough when the largest terror attack on American soil was still looming?
