If Sarah Kendzior is indeed blocked on @bsky.app, this is a completely unjustified and highly questionable move. Sarah Kendzior is among the best voices of knowledge-based critical journalism in the US. See to it that this is corrected immediately and with an apology, @pfrazee.com!

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I’m a constituent that voted for you. Do not cave to open the government that does not include reinstating subsidies for those that are enrolled in the ACA/Obamacare. Courts are requiring F47 to fund SNAP. Citizens need affordable health insurance! Do not cave!

I have called both of my Senators today, Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, on a Sunday, to tell them there must be NO agreement that would open the government *until and unless* Senate Republicans protect ACA healthcare subsidies ROCK SOLID. In writing. Guaranteed. For a year.

Done with weak Democrats!

This is great to hear - hope some of the “squishy” folks think twice!
Dem Senator Ruben Gallego is a no on the CR:

“I have been clear on this from the beginning: I will not turn my back on the 24 million Americans who will see their premiums more than double if we don’t extend these tax credits.”

A scene from yesterday’s warm afternoon run. Certainly not the glorious colors of a New England fall, or the golden aspens of our nearby mountains. But I love the subtle gold and silver of Rabbitbrush and Winterfat at this time of year.

I was always proud of being a Cornell PhD alum - admired the philosophy/ideal of educating any person in any discipline. But this capitulation by Cornell means that ideal has been extinguished.
BREAKING: Cornell caved.

Here is the settlement agreement, signed today by the university's president, Michael Kotlikoff: statements.cornell.edu/2025/documen...

Driving home late last night from a long day serving as a poll worker/election worker in a (very small!) rural district in my huge rural county...from here to New York City, it's clear that commitment to integrity in local elections can make all the difference. @coconinovote.bsky.social

"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."

Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

Good news: the Trump administration will stop blocking SNAP funds so people can eat this month.

Bad news: there's only enough to last half of Nov.

Congressional Republicans, you're in charge, end this shutdown and fund the federal government!

I had missed this article earlier. An example of what we're losing, in terms of science that could make a difference for people in this time of climate crisis. Just one relatively small research group at one university (my own #NorthernArizonaUniversity). Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/08/c...

Share and amplify this! Our local bookstore, Brightside Books in #Flagstaff , is an invaluable anchor for true community.
Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.
