Proud that AZ Democratic legislators walked out of the joint legislative session today as ICE Director Homan spoke, in order to highlight the people who are being disappeared without due process and often without any criminal history.

made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

Remember the immigration raid on the apartment complex in Chicago almost two months ago? The one with the Black Hawk helicopter and federal agents rappelling on ropes? @ProPublica decided to take a deeper look. We found little evidence to support the government’s claims. 🧵

The failure to fight back then — when this was happening in 2023 — harms us today.

The lesson is: Pick Big Fights. When you’re on the right side, fight!

The fight draws attention, which is essential in today’s media environment.

Voters want a Democratic Party that fights back against the forces that have rigged the system and made their lives more difficult.

A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable —not a party that buckles and capitulates.

When will party leadership learn this lesson?

😲 Today, the yearly cost of Arizona's universal voucher program reached $1 BILLION.

$1 billion in taxpayer funds are being siphoned into an unaccountable program that primarily benefits wealthier families who always chose private schools.

A huge thank you to Senators @gallego.senate.gov and @captmarkkelly.bsky.social! They held the line, made the case to defend our healthcare cost, and consistently demonstrated leadership that makes Arizona proud. This is the kind of representation we need in Washington. #AZIndivisibles

This is the message of a failed, feckless, and leaderless party. We need a party with backbone, and the only path to it is through a cleansing primary season. If your Dem is up for reelection, and you aren't damn sure they're fighting the fascists with everything they've got, primary the bastard.

The correct answer to this is "because Republicans don't want to solve your problems. They literally want you to starve and go bankrupt so they can make billionaires even richer."

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Any Democratic senator, at any moment, could've derailed this by calling for Schumer's replacement and casting their colleagues as MAGA collaborators, thereby shifting the Overton window. But they're all in on it. This was always a team effort.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

I want to see concrete promises for a new fighting Dem Party, because the current one is broken.
