Lots going on but from outside it seems that at least part of the calculus was that flight disruption for middle class and up travelers matters more than life disruption for untold numbers who’ll be deprived of health care.

Unfortunately, this has become pretty typical. I have a folder of unsavory emails from people who hate vaccines, democracy, and, I guess, society. They're pretty easily offended and quick to wish harm on others.

As a teacher in Canada, one thing I'm really curious about right now is what the lessons look like in American middle and high school social studies classes. Are kids still being taught that there's a system of "checks and balances," and that the US constitution is a glorious and flawless document?
