they all deserve self-determination and we know what DC wants without any real doubt. the rest should get to choose.
The Insular Cases were wrongly decided, the current disenfranchising colonial relationships are obviously unjust, and democracy obviously demands change. I just can't speak to what that would be for the colonized in the way I have no qualms speaking to the case for DC Statehood

yeah. trump 1 can be explained by a reaction to electing a black man and fears about shifting demographics. trump 2 seems like a techno billionaire coup motivated by worsening conditions to untenable levels right now.

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake" is great advice for a debate, and less great advice when the outcome might be a complete unraveling of due process and the establishment of lawless international prison camps.
this has been leadership’s explicit plan all along! this has been the tension between them and their base! they wa to sit back, do nothing but complain about trump, and ride thermostatic backlash to a majority in one or both houses next year. they don’t want to DO anything or be seen to have agency

the only way kidnapping and illegally detaining lawful permanent residents (or citizens!) in foreign concentration camps "plays out" is we all live our lives under fascism or the fascists are jailed and many of them executed. that's it. read a fuckin book.

the UK press runs an average of three stories - almost universally negative - about trans people *a day*
It's more that it's concentrated in very visible media and political circles than anything else, as most of the population don't really have much of a view either way (though constant anti-trans propaganda is starting to shift that for the worse, unfortunately).
