Love this interview between @emmaruthless.bsky.social and @nuala.bsky.social.
Is it perimenopause, parenthood, the pandemic, or the collapse of the American empire? In this conversation,
@emmaruthless.bsky.social and @nuala.bsky.social unpack post-40 hormones, the failure of Western medicine to serve people with uteruses, and what's keeping them up at night.
Perimenopause, Fascism, and Other Reasons We’re Not Sleeping
Emma and Nuala try to figure out if they’re perimenopausal, wonder if it’s anxiety or the end of the American empire, and designate Tori Amos as their menopause cult leader.

Mainstream media loves doom, despair, and a sensational headline. But hopelessness is their tool, not ours. Meet COYOTE's First Aid Kit, our service journalism series where we'll pursue intersectional, evidence-based, and sometimes light-hearted solutions to the challenges of living in the Bay Area.

Albany and El Cerrito aren’t towns most people think of when they imagine protest. But over the past two years, neighbors have built a grassroots collective for Palestine that’s reshaped their activism and sense of community.

For years we've heard from the right about "welfare queens" and other so-called "freeloaders" pulling one over on the government.

But actually, it's the wealthy who are the real freeloaders — pulling one over on us all by skirting their taxes.

Where is the outrage over that?

I honestly don’t even get this. Tuan Phan accepted that he would be deported to Viet Nam. His wife went there to meet him.

The US government arbitrarily deports him to South Sudan, from where he has not been heard from.

Pure sadism.

Hearing from a friend how ICE on Tues was hanging out near both campuses of Mundo Verde in DC, a bilingual public elementary school, but never attempted entry.

Why? In part bc "10 parents at each campus" offered to take shifts of working outside the school all day.

That's community right there.
