Talked with folks involved in the flood of rap shows at Yoshi's, once known for traditional jazz, and deliberately changing with the times. Yes, they have received complaints! But not many.

(Gotta say, as someone who's seen Scarface / Quik / Spice 1 and others at Yoshi's — it really works.)
Rap Shows on the Rise at Yoshi's in Oakland | KQED
Yoshi’s has turned quiet weeknights into sold-out shows by Too Short, Scarface and others.

Pretty stacked lineup announced at Mosswood. As you'll read, I miss the J.J. Fad / L'Trimm / Egyptian Lover element this year, but this plus the Pavement "pre-party"? It's still pretty nuts.
Mosswood Lineup: Iggy Pop, Bikini Kill, Dead Milkmen, Otoboke Beaver, More | KQED
Along with a Pavement ‘pre-party,’ this year's Mosswood Meltdown is the biggest and most impressive yet.

Was at the Santa Rosa Symphony rehearsal today and, after the Mendelssohn and Haydn, Caroline Shaw’s ‘Entr’acte’ drove 30–40 attendees out of the hall 😂

Breaking some news for @coyotemedia.org here.

Incredibly sad about this — some of the best nights of my life have involved this club — but I’m also so honored and grateful to Ramona, Kathleen and Lynn for trusting me with this story.

Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
