The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Shit like this is why the humanities matter. These assholes need to seriously spend some more time thinking about the world beyond their toxic tech bro circlejerk.
Every one of these guys thinks they’re Oppenheimer mixed with Andrew Carnegie and they own something called SplortDotCom that got bought by Boozoo
2025 will go down as the year when all the subtext became text

For a month, there have been harassment attacks using "Rape Lists." It's almost impossible to get these Lists & accounts removed.

I and others have reported this list dozens of times to Bluesky.

Out of desperation I'm posting publicly.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

don't order books (or anything) from Amazon today! Instead, order from a small press, Bookshop, a local bookstore, or request a book from your local library. Yes, Amazon is "easy," but it's continuing to kill local businesses and concentrate wealth.

I was listening to an interview with Ayana Elizabeth Johnson a few days ago who said we need more stories in Hollywood depicting a solutions oriented future beyond dystopia.

My first thought: Star Trek’s been there this entire time. Gene Roddenberry+ have given us a lot on which to build.

been seeing a lot of bookish influencers doing ads for book shopping on amazon for black friday.
reminder ‼️ that amazon workers are striking from now until monday for better work treatment
and indie bookstores exist, most have online stores, & are probably having black friday sales too 🫶🏾

A few weeks ago vs. today.

Dark money in politics is directly related to what our lawmakers do to hold corporations and the ultra-wealthy accountable.

When big oil can’t contribute absurd amounts of money to a someone’s opponent, they just might go after big oil.

I want art that looks worse made by real people who are paid a universal basic income and who don't have to compete for the bare minimum and I’m not kidding

going to airports reminds me how much capitalism sucks. Rows of open seats towards the front where you have to pay more, while the very back is crammed with people who couldn't afford to pay extra. so pointless.
