I wish more journalists, and politicians for that matter, would call this out as clearly as @maitlis.bsky.social does here. When you make grooming gangs and abuse about race and immigration you deflect from the majority of abusers. All of it should be called out, irrelevant of race.

Well, the real problem is having a White Paper whose aim is not good policy or treating people fairly but rather ignoring those things (and the opinions of people who know stuff about migration) and is entirely focused on "sending a message" for the present moment and narrow political concerns.

I keep reading that Zelensky shouldn't have risen to the bait.
The man is human. He's seen tens of thousands of Ukrainians murdered, their cities blown apart & their children stolen.
He was sitting by a man who's looting his country's minerals & praising Putin.
