My wife has been HIV+ for 34 years. She’s alive today b/c work of activists who destigmatized the virus, pushed medical science to adapt & find ways to treat it, & advocated for gov health programs that helped fund her care. The current U.S. regime may want to go back in time, but we won’t let them.

Also if you reward LLM slop and work that sucks with correspondingly bad grades, you will get wrecked in your student evaluations which are inexplicably taken very seriously in academic hiring and promotion. Very intelligent system!

After ICE was formed they were so eager to make a name for themselves as a real fed LE agency yet were and continue to be incompetent. In the early years they had an informant who was a Juarez cartel op that was literally calling in hits right across the border while in their squad car.

ICE was formed after 9/11 to protect America from terrorists, not working people, migrant or not.
Since THEY are now the terrorists doing violence against Americans, they should be disbanded.
Like forming a doctor's union that started euthenizing people instead of trying to cure them?Time to end it!

the *BORDER* Patrol, should be at the border, not in the middle of the Midwest, terrorizing folks with tear gas.

Defund entirely and abolish ICE, trials for all involved that wore a mask, and restructure immigration with compassion and empathy at its heart.

ICE should be abolished for the simple fact that being undocumented is a civil matter, not a criminal one. And if someone does break the law criminally, that's what we have regular police for. We don't need Patriot Act level gestapo on our streets, we never have.

And Greg Bovino, who works for

Title I moving to the Dept of Labor tells us ALL we need to know about how this Regime sees poor Americans.

Their justification is that they want a “coordinated workforce-education system.”

They don’t want an informed citizenry. They want wage slaves.

@mrs-frazzled.bsky.social breaks it down.

REMINDER: President Biden NEVER cut SNAP payments, never even had a government shutdown.

In fact, he cut child poverty in half.
He cut child hunger, too.

I miss having a REAL President.

"Thousands of veterans in every state — who may be unemployed, working in low-paying jobs, or have disabilities — use SNAP to supplement their low income to put food on the table for themselves and their families."
SNAP Helps 1.2 Million Veterans With Low Incomes, Including Thousands in Every State
About 1.2 million veterans live in households that participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps).[1] Thousands of veterans in every state — who...

I better see the media start retracting some of those stories saying Gen Z is the most conservative generation.

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.

Donald Trump’s attempts to rig the midterm elections are backfiring.

I brought this up repeatedly at the journalism conference yesterday organized by the New York Press club, including asking @sulliview.bsky.social about it.
I'm seeing a whole lot less outrage for the journalists of color who have been systematically discarded at places like NBC and CBS (and across journalism, really) than the response to Jimmy Kimmel's 5-day suspension.

Maybe the Sunday Show hosts can ask a question like this:

'Your party has complete control of government & polls show majority of Americans blame you for the government shutdown, so what are Republicans doing to fix this problem & make sure troops get paid and hungry kids get the food they need?'
New NBC News poll: Who do voters say is more to blame for the government shutdown?

• 52% blame Trump/Republicans
• 42% blame Democrats
