What's happening in Parliament this week?

The Renter's Rights Bill, well into the ping-pong stage, is back in Commons to consider Lords amendments again. Could this be the last, before Royal Assent?

The Planning & Infrastructure Bill is at committee in the Lords, with the gov. Planning amendments.

There's A Levels for the academic route, T Levels for the technical route. If you're a student that wants a blend, hands on learning without having to specialise at 16, you now have V Levels - the vocational route.

Stronger pathways with Labour.

Political fads are so predictable, & often burn themselves out eventually.
Today's charisma/populism offerings appear to be Farage & Polanski.
Meanwhile, as we squabble, the real govt gets on with the job 👍🌹

A fine example of tankie thinking.

No actual details provided, just condescension to cover the paucity of actual policies or proposals.

A smug certainty that their ideologically based ideas will produce fabulous results, but other people don’t implement these easy answers because they’re evil 🙄🤦
A fine example of centrist thinking.

When you can’t understand the complexities of modern finance just accuse anyone wanting to change it of being unrealistic.
And what magical formula would they use to do that?

I think you’re confusing ideology and impractical theorising with reality.

What “Left wing” policies do you have in mind?

I'd sooner trust a stoned monkey with a bag of hand grenades than this lot with the economy.
Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.

So, I woke up this morning with a plan to mow my lawn & weed the garden. Sadly, it's raining.
This is a pretty weak metaphor for what happens all the time in the world of politics.
Whatever 'plan' you might start with, outside influences mean you have to adapt to them. That's just good government.

This isn't entirely correct. Pensioners have never been better off than today, millions lived in poveert, holidays are cheaper and easier now, education wasn't great and rivers were horribly polluted.

This. 100% THIS 👇
Still getting frustrated by people whose 1st response to ANYTHING positive is to come back with something negative or to talk down the positive news.

Is that really what you want to be? Someone who sucks the joy out of life at every opportunity. Who is just gloomy & miserable all the time. Really?
