I can't tell you how frustrating it is that disabled people are almost always the first to warn society about different crises and we're almost always ignored. Then, when a crisis happens, we're often the first to be abandoned. You need us in your revolution. You need disabled people to survive.

It’s a great time to make hybrid conferences the norm, the given, the expectation. Remote attendance options help to keep folks safe in many ways, including by supporting accessibility and equity (and it’s a REALLY good time to double down on that!!!)
A lot of global academic conferencing is centered around the US, and US academic orgs have to be thinking very seriously now. You cannot continue to carry on with in person conferencing as if foreign scholars have no impediments to travel.
I know we like to pretend everything is "normal" again but..

We need a chronically ill version of that 90s photocopier meme where you can choose only 2 of good, fast and cheap.

But it's asking for help, not letting people treat you like shit, and managing your energy.

👝 Bedside bag - items you need if you are trapped in or near your bed. Meds, supplies, snacks, water.

🎒Carry on bag- items you need to keep on your person. Wallet, meds, med supplies.

They are going to ignore court orders.

If they ignore court orders, the social contract is dead and buried, the constitution is no longer in effect.

It's a rubicon that cannot be uncrossed.
