And today the spray-tanned monkfish said “the Conservative leader is stupidly no friend of mine” in a childish effort to use reverse psychology on Canadian voters (lately the Conservatives have been using a lot of the Republican’s tactics and rhetoric and Musk even straight-up endorsed Poilievre).
One of the wildest polling-related charts I've seen in my lifetime.

I know this first hand. When I was a child, my entire community was branded as spies and sabateurs, justifying our internment inside barbed wire camps for years without due process, trial or charge.

Well it was throne speech day in B.C. and what a sad spectacle it was.

First, Premier Eby doubles down on the toxic shell game that is LNG/fracking.

Then leader of the Greens—who've clearly snapped back into bougie politics—does mainstream investment blather. #bcpoli thenarwhal.ca/bc-throne-sp...

The Metro Vancouver Regional District is considering cutting funding for climate programs - despite these programs doing incredibly important work and representing a tiny fraction of the budget. If you're anywhere in Metro Van, please take a minute to send a letter to the Directors before Friday!
Urgent: Metro Vancouver is about to vote on whether to defund climate policy
Send an email now and tell Metro Vancouver’s board of directors that you support strong climate action!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sending love vibes from our heads to our toes. 💕I’ve always enjoyed the Valentine’s for encouraging our taking a moment to just send out love and care to those we love in all sorts of ways.
Hope you’re having a great day and feeling cared for/noticing those who appreciate you!

While I'm glad to see Premier Eby stand up to Trump’s bullying, I'm concerned that he’s using this moment to push for fast-tracking fracking & LNG. Current events call for real climate leadership—doubling down on fossil fuels isn’t the answer. BC must invest in clean energy, not more gas projects.
David Eby: B.C. will stand up to Trump by building at home
Our tariff response also includes a boycott of U.S. liquor and a push to buy Canadian

I hope everyone is ok, in Trump-adjusted terms.

Last few days have been more exhausting than usual for me and I’m sure many of you.

Rest if you can. Eat a piece of fruit. Have some water. Move your body. Love someone.

Donate something you don’t need anymore. Smile at a stranger. Read a poem.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

The millennial experience is growing up with the internet, and watching it go from a free, open, democratic, and eclectic ecosystem to a wasteland of five websites controlled by billionaires, and now seeing it quickly fill up with AI-generated slop.

if you’re a person who enjoys art but doesn’t create it you have no idea how many of your faves are in their artist group chats talking about how much more they’d be able to create if we had universal basic income
if you want artists to make weirder art, you have to create stable living conditions that allow them to. homogeneity isn't a matter of artists lacking culture-- there are many soulful artists out there-- it's a matter of unregulated corporate dominance combined with artists who cant afford to create

Respectfully & from the bottom of my heart, if you think anything in the world could justify this, you’re a monster or an idiot or some impressive combination of both.

I’ve been hearing various creative, unique relations share a bevy of reasons as to why they are no longer feeling safe on Meta platforms, or are unable to participate as their true selves. These folks are often some of those who keep my mind expanding and who are closest to my heart. Hope this works
