Between the censorship over Charlie Kirk, the age verification nonsense in some states, and the CEO crashing out for multiple days in a row, I’m honestly over this place. I’m not deleting outright, but I’ll be around even less than I am now. Take care of yourselves and each other. 😘

Fetterman's numbers should alarm any pundits or consultants who believe Democrats should shift to the right and meet conservatives in the middle.

“Why doesn’t Bluesky leadership ban this known person” because they like that person’s views and work. That’s all. It’s the same reason Democrats cede rhetorical ground to fascists. They like it

Watching Jay, I realize I am simply exhausted by folks in positions of leadership who are driven to distraction by critique.

If you can't function with critique and pushback, a leadership position is not for you.

Leadership REQUIRES you to absorb and process the critique of stakeholders.

The Protestant work ethic nonsense compounded by the selfish idea that life is a zero sum game where any gain by someone else means a loss for you as well as the cut off your nose to spite your face racism about POC getting any benefit means most people’s self-interest is far from enlightened

Honestly this is why I don’t trust enlightened self interest as a motivation. Too many people would rather put themselves and their loved ones at greater risk than see any poor person get a “handout” they don’t “deserve.”
everyone should have FREE healthcare. not only bc it's a basic need and human right, but bc when everyone has that? EVERYONE stays healthier.

it's so ludicrous that ppl's hatefulness keeps them from ever understanding how fundamental the common good actually is.

I’m not in any of the affected states, but again, it is stymying to me that despite billing itself as an alternative to X, Bluesky keeps getting lapped by X when it comes to anything remotely related to free expression and interaction. Are you not embarrassed?!
In Ohio, starting on Monday 9/29, we'll be implementing an age assurance solution similar to what we're doing in South Dakota and Wyoming. Read more here: bsky.social/about/blog/0...

And his saying trump’s threat to deploy troops is “unlawful”…UNLAWFUL?! That’s such a soft word when trump is using words like “full force”. He’s going to kill us and jeffries is over here like “that’s not very nice. Let’s have a meeting about it.”

If only we had a functional opposition party to throw up as many roadblocks as possible.
The Trump administration’s threat to deploy troops in Portland is unlawful.

Here’s a thought.

Focus on protecting the healthcare of the American people.

Politicians are not celebrities. They are not idols or heroes or people to be praised, defended, and worshiped. They are public fucking servants, answerable to the people and no one should forget they are here to make things better for *us*, not the other way around.
Being anti genocide is also calling out your fave politicians role in the harm they caused , but I guess that’s where yall support for oppressed ppl ends 🤷🏽‍♀️

I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action

ICE has always acted like this, though. Both it and DHS’s founding as a whole were predicated on the ‘othering’ of people. This is why it has always been a deeply questionable institution.

The only difference here is that South Korea has the very real power to make this a problem for Trump.
This is one feature of the deprofessionalization of the DHS under Noem. Employees have encouraged to treat prisoners as lesser beings, undeserving of basic human dignity. Aspects of the organizational culture that already believed this are being empowered.
Meanwhile in Korean media there is clarity that Trump directed this raid out of spite following his Oval Office meeting with the ROK President, who pushed back aggressively on Trump's praise for the North Korean dictator. They're right. US media have no clue of what's going on.

"Regret" for what? Every bit of this was Trump admin policy, including the arbitrary rounding up of everyone in sight, the appalling conditions of their confinement, and the delayed release.

Is anyone in the Trump admin / DHS / ICE getting fired over it? No. Are any policies being changed? Also no.
