A guy in a band I was in had a song called "Saying the Beatles are the greatest band ever is like saying Judy Blume is the best author of all time" and its fuckin hilarious to me that there are people that say they were around at that time that think you had to "contort yourself" to hate dad rock
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

What a bummer. Jellybean Johnson was one of the best living musicians. Dude could do anything. You may not know his name but you absolutely know his work. Rest in funk to an all-timer.
What a terrible drag to wake up to the news that Jellybean Johnson, one of the all-around funkiest, coldest drummers, guitarists and songwriters of all Time—not just The Time —- is now an ancestor. Sleep well, brother—well done. #MusicSky #BlackSkyOver50

Is it 2013? Did you start on the last row, get caught behind a crash in the first corner, and now you’re riding for life to not get lapped?

Problematic Page gap.
Angry person yelling at chill person who is responding by being calm, which makes the angry person even more mad? Problematic rage gap.
Prisoners keep escaping because you put the bars too far apart? Problematic cage gap.

Pretty much any country musician from a certain generation would be literally setting data centers on fire in response to this
AI is killing more jobs. It's not just the musicians. It's management and booking, road staff, venue staff, and support.

One #1 artist will typically employ at least 50 people. These people aren't millionaires. They work for a living. AI will eliminate their jobs.

Finally someone read Uzumaki and said “I am going to enact the spiritually fulfilling and not at all sanity destroying tale ‘Uzumaki’”
My latest AI feature dives into a nebulous movement of people sharing esoteric codes, manifestos, glyphs, diagrams, and poetry generated with chatbots, all of it based around theories of AI sentience and mysterious metaphors about spirals.

Wild how LotR helped me understand how racism could be baked into things I loved and therefore into my own worldview and some dudes read those books and said “I’m gonna name my company after the orb that wrecked Boromirs family”
The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

"It would be ridiculous to bring Bond back from the dead" say writers for a franchise that includes "Die Another Day" and "Moonraker".
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

She was there before Sauron, and before the first stone of Barad-dûr; and she served none but herself, drinking the blood of Elves and Men, bloated and grown fat with endless brooding on her feasts, weaving webs of shadow; for all living things were her food, and her vomit darkness.
