There are lots of reasons not to leave ECHR. But apart from anything else, it just doesn't solve the problem the Tories/Reform think it does.

E.g. the Supreme Court judgment re Rwanda being unsafe explicitly said it was not based on ECHR.

This is how "This side says X, but the other side says Y" balance ends up distorting journalism. Instead of being based on the journalist's own independent, impartial analysis this question really just ventriloquises a partisan opposition stance and gives the impression the BBC fully agrees with it.

Some good news:

MPs voted 104 to 402, majority 298 to reject the Conservatives’ motion which stated the Government should “put the national interest first and not to row back on Brexit, for example by re-introducing free movement through a EU youth mobility scheme”.

How a false Net Zero claim became ‘news’

…a tweet by Reform MP and GB News presenter Richard Tice caught my eye. He was claiming that Net Zero was the cause of the Heathrow shutdown, and that the issue was a “refusal to have diesel generators”.

This direct debunk and mini-lesson on how the right-wing media ecosystem can work may help you to spot and critique these types of ‘stories’ in the future

Agreed. UK must be made to implement an accessible asylum system. Channel crossings could have been stopped if UK gov had accepted French offer of a clearance centre in Calais. Torys never wanted a clearance centre coz 75% of claims succeed... and that wouldn't do, would it?

🚨🚨 The "concrete" and continuously harmful implications of #brexit. Stark words from @pmdfoster.bsky.social but he knows this reality better perhaps than any other journalist having reported on UK biz and Brexit for very long time. I strongly recommend his great State of Britain newsletter. 👇
Folks often think of Brexit impacts as abstract. But they’re concrete (or steel) as this story from this weeks @financialtimes.com State of Britain newsletter illustrates
