As a neuroscientist who studies urban stress, loud cars/motorcycles should be banned, or fined excessively until drivers reassess their need to broadcast their self esteem with unnecessary noise pollution. I don’t need to hear your car in my apartment.

I have told this story before, but bringing it here. This street has footway parking on both sides which gives 1 metre of walking space beyond the lines. But, if drivers obey the markings, you can't get a car up the middle. Because residents kept getting tickets, I was asked to look at it. 1/n

“A new study of early separated lane projects in the U.S. across six cities finds a rise of ridership between 21% and 171% after the lanes were installed.”

Giving cyclists their own space results in some pretty big benefits beyond just a lack of dead cyclists.

Taking a moment to cogitate over language choices for killing a dog which seem more condemnatory than language used when a person is killed by a driver

Surely there’s a root cause of this anti-social behaviour and removing free bus passes will, at best, only move it somewhere else.

Years ago we had the mayor bike to school with my 6 year old, within the first :30 seconds they were almost hit by a driver on live TV.
Every leader should be required to ride a bike (if able) with a 6 year old before they provide any direction on bike infrastructure.

💥London’s cycling boom continues💥

📈New data shows bike journeys in the capital are up 26% since 2019 to 1.33m every day 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🥳💚💚

We’ll keep work with boroughs to make more streets safer and enable even more Londoners to get around on 2 (or 3) wheels 🚲🙂🚲

You know the "🔹AI Overview" you get on Google Search?

I discovered today that it's repeating as fact something I made up 7 years ago as a joke.

"Kyloren syndrome" is a fictional disease I invented as part of a sting operation to prove that you can publish any nonsense in predatory journals...

The horrific Spanish floods should be a wake up call to politicians/planners - green water management needs to be at the heart of urban design. As well as reducing flood risk, our towns/cities would be so much nicer with rain gardens prioritised over parking spaces.
