A government that can officially declare that Jesus is your savior can just as easily declare the opposite.
Here’s the U.S. government being officially religious in a country with no official religion.

Resistance can absolutely be: wasting people’s time so they can’t do more bad things. 🙌 (I have applied this strategy to my senator’s office staff.)
"The way Grambo sees it, it’s a numbers game. If he can draw the attention of officers to himself, perhaps fewer immigrants will get swept up, and that’s a win. 'I know I can’t stop them,' he said, 'but if I can suck up their time, then at least I can help some people.'" legend forever.
“I want their morale as low as possible because a team with low morale is ineffective.”

To the Chuck Schumer of it all, this was a very weird glimpse into his very weird political motivations.

It’s confounding and nauseating.
I am completely awestruck by the ease with which Mike Johnson lies on a daily basis. I'll never understand how such a transparently fraudulent "man of faith" can live with themselves. Life is too short to be that phony.

the specific language of “break bread with” and “visit him in prison” is so striking to me, used in condemnation this way
DHS includes a bunch of false and defamatory statements in their tweet about Kilmar Abrego Garcia as they prepare to send him to Uganda.

America: where it is RIGHT to think only of your own personal freedoms, and it is WRONG to consider how your actions might impact other people.
TAPPER: Hepatitis A, whooping cough, & chickenpox cases are rising in Florida. Before you made this decision to lift vaccine mandates, did your dept do any analysis of how many new cases there will be?

LADAPO: Absolutely not

Both un-Christian and un-American to flippantly champion extrajudicial murder.
Senator Rand Paul directly and forthrightly takes on JD Vance:

"What a despicable and thoughtless sentiment it is to glorify killing someone without a trial."

I love America. Still.

And one of the worst things America has ever foisted on Americans is the lie of individualism. The notion that we are each of us floating in a sea of non-connection & no-context.

That person yelling was once a promise in someone's belly. They were abandoned by their country.
JD Vance on homelessness: "I don't know why we accepted that it was reasonable to have crazy people yelling at our kids. You should not have to cross the street in downtown Atlanta to avoid a crazy person yelling at your family. Those are your streets."

My toxic trait is making unreasonable substitutions in recipes and then being surprised when it doesn’t turn out so well. Every time.
"I cannot believe I wasted six hours making this so-called banana bread. I did everything right. I followed the recipe exactly, except for changing every single ingredient."
I Didn’t Follow the Recipe, and I’m Appalled It Turned Out So Awful
ONE STAR. If I could, I’d give it zero stars. I cannot believe I wasted six hours making this so-called banana bread. I did everything right. I fol...

I think about this aspect a lot, when wondering how we’ll ever be able to undo what has been done:

“Stability of fed jobs was a key benefit—which has been shattered. Who will go back?”
RFK has cut about 20% of civil servants at DHHS affecting NIH’s ability to deliver grants, CDC’s ability to monitor disease and FDA’s ability to ensure we have safe food and drugs. There’s no easy fix w/ a new admin. Stability of fed jobs was a key benefit—which has been shattered. Who will go back?
RFK Jr has claimed he’s increasing the number of scientists and front-line workers, BUT... ProPublica found that more than 1,050 scientists, physicians and public health specialists have left or been pushed out of the CDC since January.
