Former redhead, former journalist. I own two stupid dogs and live in Maryland. I watch too much TV and stay up too late.
I volunteer teaching ESL to an Afghan man who was shot three times while working with US special forces to defeat the Taliban. He has at least 5 years and thousands of dollars before he can try for citizenship.

Anyone got $5 million they can gift him?
President Trump has proposed a new visa program that could lead to permanent residency for those willing to pay a fee of about $5 million. The program could mirror the “golden visas” that have existed for years elsewhere. Here’s what to know.
Trump’s ‘Gold Card’ Plan Has Echoes of Europe’s ‘Golden Visas’
Foreigners have been able to invest to obtain citizenship in some countries on the continent for years, but governments are increasingly changing course.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote.

There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP

Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.

Please explain what just happened. Is there no way to stop this w the reconciliation to be used by GOP to get around the filibuster? Are we sunk?

DOGE recommended firing workers at:

-FAA, which oversees SpaceX

-USAID, which probed Starlink

-CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X.

"Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

As a character study, Spongebob doesn't get enough credit. He's kind, empathetic, and a consummate team player.

He's the opposite of self-absorbed.

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

It ain't over. It ain't over. It ain't over. While every note of hope buoys my spirit, and every revelation of truth heartens my resolve, I rise up, aware that it ain't over, and nothing worthwhile is achieved without perseverance.

OK, I just learned more about Krypto and apparently he has ALL the powers of #Superman but isn’t necessarily smarter than an Earth dog?! So we have a normal dog flying around with LASER EYES?! That seems like poor planning.

I very clearly remember the first #puppybowl. My roommate and I turned it on as a joke … cut to us, 90 minutes later, still watching it. I remember the addition of the kitty halftime show. I LOVE #puppybowl.

My dad was born and raised in Wichita and I spent time there (broiling) nearly every summer of my youth, as well as some far beyond. I've returned a few times in the past few years to visit my uncle. It feels a little like home, and it breaks my heart that my hometowns are linked this way.

Due to the feds returning to office and a bunch of weird circumstances, my 3x/week commute now involves going to one Metro stop on two days and a different one on the third. I will now take bets on how long it will take me to head home to the wrong station.
