Left-leaning Australian grandmother married to gorgeous man, concerned about climate change, environmental issues. Love animals particularly dogs, optimist. Who else plans to build their new home at the age of 78?!

I’m old enough to remember when there was a whole debate over whether police used tear gas as they cleared Lafayette Square and the surrounding area of protesters in DC on June 1, 2020 (they did).

Now DHS agents apparently toss varieties of tear gas all the time.
Just arrived on the scene at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in South Portland. Here less than 10 minutes when agents charged out of the facility and used a pale yellow gas that caused tears and coughing in crowd members. Also shot munitions at those retreating.

Native forest logging in NSW just posted a $15 mil loss in 6 months. It’s environmentally destructive & economically broken.

Time to stop propping it up with public money & invest in communities to transition to sustainable industries of the future.

I know some have. Just putting this out there in the hope more will

And if you do, maybe share it so they know

Recent assaults on the right to protest are just the latest front in Australia's ever-expanding police state, @theshufflediary.bsky.social reports.
How Australia became a police state
Pro-Palestine protests and sustained years of climate activism have contributed to the recent flurry of legislation.

Peter Dutton just said “the best indicator is past performance”.

When he was Health Minister he took the axe to Medicare.

He's already said he'll cut again if he becomes Prime Minister.

Peter Dutton will come after Medicare again and make Australians worse off.

Given that this enthusiasm for batteries is from the mob who told us that they only provide a few hours backup & that you can't charge your car & battery at the same time, & also given their track record of walking back election promises once they're in, excuse me if I'm skeptical.

Completely agree
Friends don’t let friends buy & eat Tasmanian farmed salmon.

It’s produced & farmed irresponsibly, harms the local environment inc the ancient & endangered Maugean skate - & is owned by multinationals who pay little to no tax

Almost too terrifying to contemplate
"Barely had the ink dried on the IEA report than new coal mines were approved in countries ranging from Australia to China and India. [...] No wonder talk of asset stranding has flagged since 2021. The world has surrendered to climate breakdown."

I’m more disappointed in Albo than most. But the notion that the illiterate, racist thug and Queensland ex-cop Dutton would be a better PM is a joke. Dutton is a flake, an inch-deep cynical opportunist funded by fascists like Gina Rinehart. He needs to be kicked into the dustbin of history.
