The monarchy is not 'a symbol of national unity'. It's a symbol of Britain's deeply entrenched class divisions.

Yes, watched yesterday morning online. A bit of cloud about so not as spectacular as should have been. But, great atmosphere there.
On the winter solstice, the Sun rises and shines down the length of the 5,100-year-old Newgrange passage tomb in County Meath, Ireland.

Remarkable designing and implementation by the Neolithic engineers who built it.

A 🧵

Things to acknowledge about Labour.

- I won’t be voting for them again. I also don’t know yet who I’ll be voting for in the next GE.

- I will happily acknowledge that the Worker’s Rights Bill, the Breakfast Club programme, the VAWG work and quite a few other points are good work.

However.

Don't know why, but this image evokes such an emotional response...
Inside the mother of all Neolithic tombs ... Newgrange in Ireland. This photo, from excavator Michael O'Kelly's book, shows the chamber (with spiral carving) that is illuminated via the famous roofbox opening at winter solstice. A 5,200-yr-old celebration of the return of the sun. #TombTuesday

And so your honor... no case to answer
You can no more damage Trump’s "reputation" than you can ride in an invisible gravy ship to a planet made entirely of turkey. Because none of those things exist.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

One argument I used to make to my students about why it was important to learn history (and historical thinking) is that someone was always going to be trying to tell you things were natural or had always been this way and that you needed to be able to see that as an exercise of power.

Brilliant article, debunking the first of (apparently 🤔) 75 Brexit "Benefits".

If only Starmer's Labour government could be forced to read this, the fog in their collective stupidity may begin to clear 🙄
The second instalment of my Sisyphean debunk of 75 supposed Brexit “Benefits” will be out later today.

Yesterday I looked at whether we got all the same trade deals for free when we toppled out of the single market, and more importantly, whether maintaining the status quo is actually a benefit.

Debunking Benefit 1: No, We Didn’t Get the Same Trade Deals "For Free"
